Question: If a friend or relative makes a racist or homophobic remark, do you tend to confront them or let it slide? Are you more likely to confront them if it offends you directly or someone else who seems reluctant to speak up?
Answer: If a friend makes a racist or homophobic remark, I will confront them. It is their opinion in the end, but I will question it and spark a conversation about it. It doesn’t matter if it does or doesn’t offend me or if someone else doesn’t speak up. I will say something if I want to, it’s in my nature. I strongly believe that we need to be less ignorant and more accepting in this world.
Unfortunately, the opposite is true when it comes to family and relatives. It’s difficult for me to confront a relative because of my culture and family dynamics. I was raised to respect your elders and to never speak back. While I don’t always obey the “respect your elders”, this is kept to myself. As for never speaking back, that I must follow. Misbehavior on my part reflects directly upon my parents, and these relatives are their brothers, sisters, and parents. A few cousins, only one that is older than me, and the others that are younger than me, I will confront. This is okay because they are younger than me (except the one that’s older, but him and I have a very open and honest relationship and I can yell at him for anything. He’s the one I’m closest to). The younger cousins, I believe I can and should say something, because their view on society is still being shaped, and I want to provide a different perspective from the rest of the family. If I can influence one of them to be less ignorant and more accepting, then I’m happy. My relatives (aunts, uncles, grandparents, and some cousins) are all racist and homophobic. It bothers me a great deal, but after failed attempts at speaking with my mother about it, I know better than to confront them about it. They are set in their ways and there’s nothing I can do about it. It makes my skin crawl when they make offensive comments, so I walk away because I can’t be around it. Some people might call me a coward, but after 24 years, I recognize it is a battle that I can never win.
How about you?
Writer’s Block: Scariest Drug Experience October 20, 2009

Question: What is the scariest incident with drugs or alcohol you’ve witnessed or personally experienced? How did it change you?
Answer: The scariest incident I have ever had with drugs is when I tried Salvia for the first time. Please take note, this is legal! Salvia is a wicked trip, and it totally fucks with your mind. If you’re going to try it, make sure you have a sitter (READ: DO NOT DO IT WITHOUT A SITTER) and make sure it’s a damn good sitter. I tripped so far that I thought my world was ending, as if I was in the Matrix. The world around me was literally peeling away into black, and I thought “this is it, this is real, I’ve been dreaming my reality all this fucking time. Oh shit, it’s all over”. It lasted for about 5-10 minutes, and then I was back. But shit dude… that was a wicked, scary trip.
It didn’t really change me. I know where this thought process came from. I have an overactive imagination and have sometimes thought, mainly for kicks, what if we really are in the Matrix? And we’re all just connected to this reality and it’s all a dream? I mean, what’s to say we’re not? Then I snap back to reality, haha.

Question: If you’re going on a long plane or road trip, what sort of reading materials do you bring along? Is it different from what you usually read? Will you watch a trashy movie or read a bad novel or magazines just to pass the time?
Answer: On a long plane or road trip, I will bring multiple books. Although, now that I have an eReader, it makes this process much simpler. This means that I can now take my entire book collection with me on the trip. I will also bring a few magazines, of a large variety. I will usually pick up Time, Wired, Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ, People, and US Weekly. I gotta have a variety. If it’s a long plane or road trip, I like to be prepared. So that whatever happens to tickle my fancy, I have it! Honestly though, the material is no different than what I usually read. Why should it be? I want to be entertained, so I’m going to take the things I like. I will also take movies with me. I do the same thing when I go home to visit. I take books and movies, just to help pass the time.

Question: When you get sick, do you prefer to go it alone or be doted upon by a friend, partner, or parent? Do you usually go to work or school or stay home?
Answer: It depends on how sick I am. If it’s a simple cold that doesn’t really knock me out, I prefer to go it alone and just hole up and relax. If I’m really sick, to a point where it hurts to move or I have no desire to get out of bed, then I would love to be doted upon by a friend, partner, or parent. Granted, this might have something to do with the fact that I live alone and am single, therefore I always take care of myself. I think it’s nice to sometimes be cared for, especially when you are sick.
When I am sick, I usually go to work or school. Unless I’m really sick, then I’m staying home. I’m usually sick to a point where I have to stay home though. There’s also the fact that people at school and work usually don’t want to see my ass if I’m sick, haha.

Question: What band are you dying to see live in concert that you’ve never seen before? Would you travel to a different city or state just to see them?
Answer: I want to see Josh Groban in concert. I never have, and I’ve heard his shows are great, amazing, and hilarious. Would I travel to a different city or state? Quite possibly, it depends on the money situation. As of right now, I would only travel to a neighboring state.
Other people/bands I want to see in concert are Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, and Esmee Denters. I guess I’m not big on the “band” element, oops!
